Kitchen Description:

The original house was built in 1950 and purchased in 2006 by the Thomas family,   Renovations began soon after the acquisition with the help of Reader & Swartz architects as well as Fauver Construction.  During the renovation, the kitchen was relocated to the sunnier, opposite rear corner of the house.  To create an inviting space with plenty of natural light, windows were added, some were enlarged, and  a sunny breakfast room was added.  This provided the kitchen with a view overlooking Handley High School and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east.

Custom maple painted cabinets with inset doors are on the perimeter of the kitchen.  The island is a light cherry wood and all countertops are Shivakovsky, a light granite.  There is a 48 inch 6 burner Wolf range top with a griddle; the backsplash above the range is a colorful glass tile motif.  It is the true focal point in this kitchen.  Two dishwashers flank the sink on the island and are hidden with recessed cabinet panels.  Side-by-side 72 inch refrigerator and freezer is hidden behind panels as well.  Finally, there are double wall ovens, an Advantium oven with microwave over a GE monogram convection oven.  Both are essential when preparing for large gatherings.
